My first recipe HOORAY!
Funny Story before I give you the secret to the most delicious blended protein shake you’ve ever tasted.
*Scroll down to Bottom for the recipe*
I had lost 37 pounds doing an extreme work out through The Pit’s Women’s Bootcamp.
I was feeling AMAZING, better than I ever had in my life. My eating habits changed for the better, I didn’t get tired easy. I learned so much about myself and my body. And how great it felt to push the limits and see results. Plus it was a great feeling to wake up every morning literally smaller than the day I was before. It was quite the accomplishment, UNTIL…..
I GOT PREGNANT!
What the heck!? I was NOT suppose to be pregnant! I was on birth control! I took that test THREE DAYS before my husband and I were to get married. I had come so far in my fitness! So many thoughts ran through my head as I sat in the bathroom of my son’s baseball practice. Sad to say I know, but I cried that day.
Okay funny story over, and if you were at my wedding I totally fooled you by carrying around the same glass of champagne all night long. And of course we love our precious gift Molly Arlene.
I kept up my fitness routine and going to Boot Camp until I was 7 1/2 months pregnant. I did not start looking like a pregnant person until my 8th month, then of course I blew up. I did not gain as much as I did with baby #3, Macy-Jane, but I did not weigh the same at the start of my pregnancy either.
Once Molly was born I needed to find a meal replacement that would satisfy my hunger. I tried many different combinations and measurements until I came up with this one! It’s the perfect blend of all things healthy.
I call it… THE GREEN MACHINE
Watch how I make it!
For this delicious smoothie you’ll need to round up Almond Milk, A Vanilla Protein Powder of your choice, Ground Flax Seed, Chia Seed, Frozen Banana, Spinach & Kale. 1/2 tbsp measuring spoon. A blending device. I SWEAR but my Nutribullet one of the best Christmas presents ever received. *Optional- Matcha Powder + 1/2 tsp adding Matcha only enhances the healthyness AND the flavor!
First I add the Spinach and Kale, SECRET TIP: if you are not a big fan of Kale, which I am NOT, freeze a handful in an individual bag and the taste will be much less potent. While i’m placing the kale in baggies to freeze I add a handful of spinach and it makes for an great ready pack! tip over. Add the rest of your dry ingredients to the top of your “salad” as my kids call it.
Next, you’ll want to add just enough Almond Milk to cover your yummy healthy ingredients. You can do more or less to your preference, This amount makes my perfect consistency.
Next you blend! The Nutribullet is like a blender on steroids no joke! What I do is hurry to put all of my ingredients away, by the time I’m done with that it seems to be done. But what you’re looking for is for all the pieces of “salad” to be blended it with the rest of the green. Once it looks well blended you’re good to turn it off.
And it should look a little something like this!
I hope you get around to trying this, I started out drinking it for breakfast but have since changed it to my lunch. I have another healthy pre-made meal I created for breakfast that I will totally share at a later date. You guys could try it as meal replacement or a healthy snack.[recipe title=”The Green Machine- Protein Smoothie”] [/recipe]
