I’ve Won Over Hearts with These Brownies
When Jesse was around 4 years old and Little Leo was just a baby, there was news that we would be getting new neighbors in our apartment complex of 5. We were so excited, most of the neighbors in our little complex were already great friends or even family. Jesse was hoping for a new friend to play with.
The day they moved in I made up a batch of these brownies and brought them over to our new neighbors to Welcome them and introduce myself and the kids. To my surprise it was actually someone that I went to High School with, her husband and their ADORABLE daughter Harmony.
These brownies must have done magic or it may have been my irresistable charm, i’m pretty sure it was the brownies though. Reason being, this family is now MY FAMILY. And the woman who opened the door is whom I refer to when making Kristi Rice.
A few years later, Kristi would introduce me to my now husband and the rest is history. History in the making and I am so grateful!
I never realized until writing this here how much I owe to these DELICIOUS, Mexican Chocolate Brownies. I hope they are able to work magic for you as they have done for me!
These Brownies will knock your socks off, they’re unbelievable moist, the perfect texture of fudgey, a LITTLE cakey, and oh so chocolatey with enough of that Abuelita Mexican Chocolate taste that will leave you wanting more! And if you haven’t tasted this chocolate before, boy are you in for a real treat. This stuff is SOO good.
And guess what guys, they are Semi-Homemade and Super Easy to make!
These 3 key ingredients, plus what the the box of brownie mix asks for to make the “cake like” brownies.
Preheat your oven according to instructions on Box, then start by spraying your 13 x 9 baking dish
Begin by grating the tablet of Abuelita’s Mexican Chocolate
*If you fold down the paper a bit and grate holding the paper it will help the chocolate from melting in your hand.
Next you will follow the instructions on the box to add the ingredients

Add the grated Mexican Chocolate
Just a dash of Mexican Vanilla (I’m almost out of this stuff!!!)
Stir together until well combined, Pour into your baking dish using a spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl. Let your babies lick the spoons (YES, we lick the spoons)
Bake your brownies according to the instructions on the box. They may require a couple extra minutes. Brownies are done when tooth pick comes up clean!
Pour yourself a big glass of ice cold leche and Enjoy!!

- 1 Box of Fudge Brownies (PLUS all ingredients called for the “Cake Like” Brownies)
- 1 Tablet of Abuelita’s Mexican Chocolate
- 1 Splash of Molina’s Mexican Vanilla
- Cooking/Baking Spray
- Preheat oven according to instructions on box
- Coat your 13 x 9 Baking Dish with your Baking Spray
- Grate the tablet of Chocolate using a cheese grater until the whole tablet is grated into a powder. Set aside.
- Prepare the Brownie batter by following the instructions on the box for the “Cake Like” Brownies adding the Grated Mexican Chocolate to the batter. Using a wooden spoon, stir the batter until well combined.
- Pour into your greased Baking Dish.
- Bake according to time on the Brownie Box.
- Brownies are done when tooth pick is inserted in the middle and comes up clean!
Brownies are most delicious when served warm, try them once by themselves then consider adding a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream.
You will want to make these time and time again.
